Creative Loafing Tampa Bay (“Creative Loafing,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Tampa Bay Burger Week website and related digital properties (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, the choices and rights you have, and how we protect it. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
We are the “controller” (or “business”) responsible for the personal information described in this Policy.
- We collect information you give us, such as your name, company or restaurant name, email address, phone number, website, and message when you submit a restaurant participation inquiry. We also receive limited technical information when the Service is requested.
- We use cookies and similar technologies for site operation and Google Analytics. This Service also loads the Meta Pixel for event-promotion measurement. It does not currently use login accounts, newsletters, or text-message subscriptions.
- If you participate in the Instagram contest, Instagram has its own privacy practices. We may review eligible public posts and contact a potential winner through Instagram.
- We do not use this Service to sell personal information for money. The Meta Pixel may support measuring event promotions and audience activity.

1. Information We Collect
We collect several categories of information for the purposes described in this Policy.
Information You Provide to Us
When you submit a restaurant participation or interest form, you may provide:
- Identifiers - first name, last name, email address, phone number, and company or restaurant name.
- Professional or commercial information - company website and information about your restaurant or business.
- Communications - comments, questions, and other details included in your message.
We use this information to evaluate and respond to your inquiry, coordinate potential participation, and communicate with you about Tampa Bay Burger Week.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, our hosting, security, and form systems may automatically receive limited technical information, including:
- IP address and general connection information
- Browser type, device type, operating system, and language settings
- The page requested, referring page, date and time of the request, and basic usage information
We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, maintain, and understand use of the Service. Google Analytics helps us measure page views, referral sources, device and browser information, and interactions with site features. The Meta Pixel may also receive information about page views, browser and device information, and interactions with site features to help measure event promotions.
Location Data
We do not request precise location information from your device. Our hosting or security systems may infer a general location from an IP address for security, reliability, or aggregate operational purposes. We do not use the Service to track your precise physical location.
Information From Third Parties
If you participate in the Burger Week social contest through Instagram, we may see public posts, account names, tags, hashtags, and other information that you choose to make visible on Instagram. Instagram may also provide information under its own terms and privacy policy.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through the restaurant interest form. The form is delivered through a separate Creative Loafing form service, and information submitted through it may be processed by that service on our behalf.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Evaluate and respond to restaurant participation inquiries.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- Measure site traffic, referral sources, and interactions with site features.
- Measure event-promotion activity and audience interactions.
- Coordinate potential participation in Tampa Bay Burger Week.
- Review and administer eligible Instagram contest entries.
- Communicate with you about an inquiry or event activity.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or harmful activity.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
5. Analytics
Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC that reports site traffic and usage. You can opt out by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Learn more about Google’s practices in the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Advertising and Behavioral Remarketing
Meta Pixel. The Meta Pixel is a tracking tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. It may help us measure event promotions, understand interactions with this Service, and build or measure audiences for event-related advertising. Meta may receive information such as your browser, device, pages visited, and actions taken on this Service. Learn more in Meta’s Cookies Policy and Meta’s Privacy Policy.
8. “Sale” and “Sharing” of Personal Information
Some privacy laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly. As of the last updated date, we do not sell personal information for money. The use of the Meta Pixel may be considered “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under some privacy laws. We do not currently use a Google advertising tag or another advertising remarketing technology.
If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.
9. Your Privacy Choices
Browser and cookie controls
You can use your browser settings to refuse or delete cookies and similar storage. You can also use Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on described above. You can review Meta’s privacy and ad-settings tools to manage available advertising choices.
Global Privacy Control and other signals
Where required by applicable law, we will review and respond to recognized privacy preference signals. The Meta Pixel may be subject to additional opt-out rights, including rights that apply to targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. We will review and respond to recognized privacy preference signals as required by applicable law.
Instagram choices
Instagram controls the privacy settings for content you post there. You can use Instagram’s settings and privacy tools to manage who can see your content.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. You may also have rights to obtain a copy of your information, object to or limit certain processing, or appeal a decision about a privacy request.
Florida
Florida residents may have rights under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights and other applicable law, including rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of certain personal information, subject to applicable exceptions and verification requirements.
California
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, including rights to know about, access, correct, and delete personal information, and to opt out of certain sales or sharing. The use of the Meta Pixel may be considered sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may have the right to opt out of that sharing, subject to applicable law and verification requirements.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom
If applicable law in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, data portability, and to complain to a data protection authority. These rights are subject to applicable legal conditions and exceptions.
11. How to Submit a Request
To make a privacy request, email policy@cltampa.comwith the subject “Privacy Request.” Please identify the information or right involved. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and protect against unauthorized requests.
Data Deletion
If you would like us to delete information submitted through the restaurant interest form, email policy@cltampa.com with the subject “Data Deletion Request.” We will review and respond as required by applicable law. Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping purposes.
We will respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law. If you disagree with our response, you may have the right to appeal or contact the appropriate privacy regulator.
12. Email Communications
We do not currently operate a newsletter or email marketing subscription through this Service. If you email us or submit a restaurant interest form, we may use your email address to respond to your inquiry and communicate with you about that inquiry or potential event participation.
You may ask us to stop responding to a voluntary inquiry at any time by contactingpolicy@cltampa.com. This may prevent us from completing the request or coordinating participation.
13. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
- Restaurant interest submissions - retained while needed to evaluate and follow up on the inquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter, then deleted or anonymized when practical.
- Technical and security records - retained according to the operational and security practices of our hosting and service providers.
When retention is no longer necessary, we delete or anonymize information, or, if that is not possible because it is stored in backup archives, securely store and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.
14. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect personal information against accidental loss, unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and service-provider security practices.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
15. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for transfers of personal data from the European Economic Area or United Kingdom to the United States.
16. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at policy@cltampa.com, and we will take steps to review and address the request.

The Service may contain links to websites not operated by us, including participating restaurant websites, Instagram, Feeding Tampa Bay, and other event-related services. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
18. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy on this page and update the “Last Updated” date above. Where appropriate or required, we may notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service before a change takes effect. Changes are effective when posted unless otherwise stated.
